APTSTHR is the lo-fi recording project that taught me how to make music, and the one that eventually evolved into Tinyfolk. One day I got sick of just listening to music, and I wanted to make some really badly. So, I bought a cheap tape recorder and made some. I downloaded freeware drum machine software, pulled out an air organ that i had gotten for five dollars at a garage sale, and started holding down the chord buttons while the drum machine played, talk-singing lyrics i made up over the top. One of my first songs was me reading the phone book over a drum machine. My first song ever was called "My Supergirl" and was about a girl I was dating at the time, and how I thought she was...super. I also used a variety of other instruments I found such as a toy piano, an autoharp and a radioshack keyboard.

Anyway, eventually I learned ukulele, and right around the time I moved from Newburgh, Indiana to Bloomington, Indiana I decided to change the project's name to Tinyfolk.
