It took around two years to record and release the follow-up to 2002's "Human Slushy" album. (i.e. make an album full of new pop songs in a studio).

Joe Panton was originally slated to record the album, and production began in late 2002. Work slowed to a crawl due to many things: disputes over how the material should be presented, drug abuse on the part of certain parties, altercations over who would be allowed to perform the material live, etc. In short, the album was becoming very, very "arena rock", and I was barely being allowed to perform a single note. Roughly 15-18 songs were recorded in this manner. None of which met with anyone's satisfaction.

In April of 2004, Chris Zabriskie convinced me to start the album over from scratch with him doing all of the engineering and production. (He also plays all of the drums here). We whittled down a tracklist from the 40-50 songs I'd written over the two years, and decided to make an album full of (mostly) first takes. Caution was thrown to the wind, and the album was recorded in less than 48 hours.

Many Marc With a C fans still consider this to be my best record. I'm okay with that. I really like it too. We finally put it out in August of 2004, and to this day I wouldn't really change anything about it. It sounds exactly like what it is: two friends having a blast playing music together.
