[Nov. 2007] Croquet/Steve Wood Split LP info: Croquet is Chaetan Newell. Steve Wood was Chaetan Newell's best friend in Boston before going M.I.A. some time in October. He was homeless at the time they met and dying of AIDS. Steve has claimed to be the original singer for J. Geils Band though this has yet to be proven or disproven. This Should Be Flowers release is a dedication to their friendship. Croquet is an on-going documentation of nervous breakdowns via stoner-pop ranging from extreme acoustic sparseness to extreme sonic blasts of distortion and/or lush synth textures. Lyrically, humor and tragedy coexist as one. Steve Wood sings his heart out a’capella to the sounds of Massachusetts Avenue. He’ll make you laugh. He’ll make you cry.
