Debris
2005
This is not an album, rather a place to store material that I'v built up over the years. If I had singles, these would be B-Sides. But I don't have singles. So they're not. They're just bits of debris.
1. On Your Own Accord - Accordions and arabic percussion were always meant to be together. This much is obvious.
2.Poper - I could listen to that Kick and snare singing to each other all day. With bells on harmony.
3. Untitled - A drrty south hip-hop beat. If you want to sample it, or rap over it or whatever, it's yours. This is true of all my music, by the way. I don't own my songs.
4. Walking Hat - Another southern hip-hop beat. A little less drrty, but it's a complete song. It's currently looking for someone to rap over it.
5. As We Claw At Our Lips - Created around the same time Jittercreep (opening track for Disorient). In the end, I went with Jittercreep because it moved a bit more.
6. Dance Party - The first electronic track I ever made.
7. DNS - My first go at sampling something and chopping it up. It still makes me laugh.
8. Tasty Burger Jam - I think I was obsessed with Pulp Fiction at some point. This is first instance of sampling audio and adding music to it.
9. United States of Lebowski - My first real "Mash-Up", now that I think about it.
10. Collide i Scope - Bits of crackling strangeness. Something didn't turn out right when I rendered it.
11. Iced Light - As the signal loops, it becomes more and more agitated until it breaks your ears. I reccomend turning the volume down before playing this one.
12. meiuqeR - Taking a page out of DuChamp's book, this is a found piece of art. That is to say, it's the theme to Akira played backwards. It still surprises me how effective and haunting this is. Very Animal Collective-esque. I used to drive around at night with this on my cd player. It's also the longest "song" I've ever done.
13. I Love You Anyway (Jacek Demo) - Originally my first EP was going to be a duet album with (and about) my great friend Erin Vogel. Her friend offered to help me record it, using his instruments. I only spent a sigle night recording in his basement, and this vocal-less demo is what came out of it. I played the guitar and bass, Jacek played the organ and drums. Eventually I'm going to want to start recording rock music, so this sort of provides you a little look into how that will sound.
14. El Camino Blvd - This was ommitted from Open All Winter. If you've heard that album, you probably have some idea about how bad this song must be. I think I was trying to sound like Will Oldham, but it sounds much more Dinosaur Jr-esque.
15. 1992 Girlfriend - This was also omitted from Open All Winter, but only by accident. I still actually dig the concept and melody, so maybe I'll ressurect it someday.
16. Triptoolator - Weird ambient stuff. Put it in your horror movie or something. Spooky.
17. Gunk - Bit of noise I made today, inspired by the Noise Love thread.
18. Dealers - I became obsessed with Lil' Wayne's "A Milli", and I tried to see if I could build a beat based around a single vocal sample. The verdict: No.
19. Vampire - I meant to put some gothy, Baushaus, kind of vocals over it, but I never got around to it. It's actually better the way it is though.
20. Not A Dream - I'm very much interested in odd percussion, and how it can build and release tension in weird ways.
21. Super Famous - A quick one-off I did in about 20 minutes. I think it's fun.

i cannot begin to say how right you are about the accordions and arabic percussion. i dunno what kind of drum that is (or maybe it's just the way you recorded it that makes it sound the way it does) but i REALLY like the sound of it.
also (and please note this is coming from someone who usually can't stomach much of that modern blingy rapcrap and drrty south hiphop)
you make some sickass gansta beats dude :D
Cool idea for a cllct page...having an ongoing compilation of non-album songs. i might steal your idea and start putting up random covers i've been doing over the years.
