'down to sleep' (like all shalloboi records) came together gradually over a period of about three years. while it doesn't sound like it it's a very organic record- all of the reverbs (except those used on the guitars) were achieved with the use of naturally reverberant spaces, vocal effects were achieved with simple doubling techniques. it's also the first shalloboi record to feature drums and more fully fleshed out string arrangements. musically it's built on minimal drum-beats and dense droning guitars that employ a loud/quiet dynamic. the vocals and strings float softly over the rest of the mix in addition to various other textural elements.
