Greenland
2010
'Greenland' is the name of a country to the Northeast of Canada, and an abandoned amusement park in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. The country has a lot of ice, and the abandoned amusement park has a lot of spiders.
I think it's interesting that two places that are actually kind of bleak and depressing are named 'Greenland'... I guess because it seems like a such a happily-ever-after kind of name. But then, I suppose that the amusement park is so overgrown now that it is a lot greener than it used to be... and thanks to global warming, Greenland is getting agriculture. Ironic!
In some ways, this sort of thing somehow relates to what I was trying to capture on this, my first double-yet-not-double album. I think they're actually fun songs, but a lot of them involve the end of the world or death or apathy or banality or creepiness or depression.
Some people may not enjoy such things, and some people might think my album is a complete piece of shit (they're wrong, by the way-- I rock), but I think a lot of people would probably have a pretty awesome time at the abandoned amusement park... it's a really magical place.
Also, I consider this to be my most Zombie Girlfriend Hospital Attack Force-esque album... and probably my best one!

Okay, point taken so I'll rephrase it - it's currently MY favourite record on CLLCT. Yip, there are loads of great records I love on here that I'll listen to all my life, but this one has got a certain epic something about it, and the work that must have gone into it. Shit... hats off.
Wow smally... it's super nice to get all sorts of gushing praise and I'm not complaining, but there are some pretty awesome albums on here and I really don't think there's such a thing as 'the best album on cllct'. It's not really a competition (except for the voting, which is kinda lame, unforgiving, and not necessarily accurate if you ask me).
But thanks a lot for investing so much time in it-- seriously, it means a lot. I'd actually much rather have one person who really likes it as opposed to heaps of people who just think it's okay.
It's something of an undertaking to even approach a record as vast as this, but it is well worth it. Downloaded the zip and it's going to take weeeeks to digest it properly, but I'm in in for the long haul. I've said a few times 'the best record on cllct' and really meant it at the time, but I'll say it again - this is definitely probably the best record on CLLCT.
***** out of ***** from me :)
