Yay Russ! I love these songs lots too! I'd forgotten about them. There's going to be some more experimental stuff later in the year.

"Jamaica" is my favorite song on this too. Awesome production, and killer sleighbells :)

I hadn't seen "There Will Be Blood" when I wrote the song, but I had the idea after seeing a bumper sticker that mentioned "Blood for Oil." I also threw in the religion angle. I was aware of the plot for the movie so it all sort of meshed together in a somewhat unconscious way. I liked doing that song in the same vein as my record, Every Body, relying on computers and keyboards more than folk guitars.

actually, long ago when the trailer first came out, the one i saw didn't have any music (except the percussive track J.Greenwood made), sooooo...

however, i used to own "Bodysong" (some of the same music). on top of that, i listen to a lot of Toru Takemitsu and Stravinsky. i also listen to "Black Angels" by The Kronos Quartet way more than one person should. what i mean to say is that the influence was there, just not necessarily the same source at that time.

Wow. Was all that just from watching the trailer then? Or was that entire thing a coincidence?

would you believe i got the strings down BEFORE i saw "There Will Be Blood"?

Love the There Will Be Blood homage, "We Want Your Blood (It Is Accomplished!)" The strings sound amazing.
