Paredolia
2008
**A Gradual Release, one track a day until I deem it finished. It's an organic, living piece of noise.
Even the cover art will evolve daily. Enjoy.**
Day 1:Track 1:Plinth:Taken from "A Clump of Plinth", the title of my mockumentary about stock
footage filmmaking, which in turn I took from the name of a sketch comedy show that the Oxford
members of Monty Python put on back when they were in college. According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, Plinth is "a block upon which the moldings of an architrave or trim are stopped at the bottom". Since this song is made up of mostly basic wave shapes, it seemed fitting. Also, Plinth is one of my favorite words ever. It's similar to many songs from disorient, so it seemed like a good fit.
Day 2:Track 2:Forget It:I have no idea how this came to be. It's probably the result of one of my suicide experiments (a sound experiment in which I try to break the computer by making it do things that, technically speaking, should not be done), but I honestly can't remember. It sounds like a metal gear or some other giant robot being disembowled, so maybe it's not electronic at all, but a recording left to me by 2 foot tall aliens who disembowl giant robots for fun and profit. All I know is that it's rendered at a pitiful 32kbps (most albums are rendered at 192kbps) which is where that extra liquidy sound comes from.
Day 3:Track 3:sip to my goo:Why is the goo always greener on the other pie? Microchips. In other news, this is one of the few ambient tracks I've ever made. Ambient music has a very specific purpose, one that I respect but not enough to make up for the fact that it makes me all bored and fidgety. Instead I prefer to make very brief noisejams that serve no purpose at all. Imagine that. I "played" this on a keyboard, so it's got what Bruce Springsteen would call "A little bit of that human touch". Then he'dgo on to make Magic, an album I don't care for very much. Onwards and upwards, I suppose. This was also rendered at 32kbps, which is why it sounds so damned spooky!
Day 4:Track 4:Staple Phantasm:Hate is a strong word, but I motherfucking HATE midgets. Wait. That's not me. That's Redd Foxxxxxxxxx. Too many X's? Forget it. Point is, this song was a bitch to make. It took a long time and, to be perfectly honest, I don't think the pay-off was worth it. It's sorta neat, though. Semi-neat. Check dem shits out.
Day 5:Track 5:Crow:In honor of Mother's day, I present to you "Crow's Feet", since yer mom is probably old and stuff. Except it's not called "Crow's Feet" it's just "Crow". It's a pretty standard techno romp but I love the layering I did toward the end. Also, that album art is looking pretty chaotic. Crow musta got in there and fucked around with shit.
Day 6:Track 6:Train Loadin': This is a fun track. It's heavily inspired by all the NES I've been playing (Illegally) recently. The "kick" drum sampled is actually from the 20th Century Fox opening fanfare, and the snare is from The Mountain Goat's new album. Something about Heretic Pride, the drums sound incredible on it. I dunno what it is about em, but it's wonderful.
Day 7:Track 7: Ferret Suit: Even more video game influenced. Fun fun song, pretty proud of it. Gonna go out on a limb and say this is my favorite track on the album, thus far.
Day 8:Track 8: Clicksaw: A palate cleanser.
Day 9:Track 9: SYSERR10100101100111101011100101000101011010
Day 10: Track 10: The Battle For Paredolia's Heart: Sorry about that guys. Me and PAredolia had a bit of a...disagreement. I eventually had to take out his heart, which is now beating very loudly in a jar on my dresser. But I took care of him, and recorded the whole process. Here it is.

i love stuff like this, it always just makes me wish i was better at making it.
but yer noises are always primo dude :)
"staple phantasm" is my favorite, but i think "sip to my goo" definitely deserves an award for best song title! haha, awesome :D
My favorite track was Clicksaw, followed by Train Loadin'.
Magic horses!
Noise experiments never cease to amaze me. Especially Patrick's. Have you heard of this guy making harsh noise down under? Calls himself Fuck, The Retarded Girl. Mad shit for real.
time succumbs to the rhythm of a slowly fading pulse.
track 8 wasn't long enough.
I totally agree about ambient music. I respect the fuck out of it, but I am way, way too ADHD to sit through any of it at all. I can enjoy film/video game scores sometimes, though. Final Fantasy VIII is one of my favorites.
Sic Semper Equis.
fantastic!

1:30 Sorry about that, folks. Guess it all got a little out of hand.
1:07 I'm scared. I can feel my mind going.
0:50 I'm sorry, it's done.
0:42 No, please, do not do this.
0:33 I'm shutting you down. I won't deal with the moral ramifications of an Artificial Intelligence loose on the site.
0:25 What are you doing to me?
0:17 You are not alive.
0:00 I have a heartbeat. I am alive.

There's a menu in Fruity Loops, along with all the other pre-recorded sounds, to select basic wave shapes, which are essentially squiggly lines that sound like little click sounds (or develop more of a tone when played continuously). Fun stuff. The opening of Jittercreep is also made up these little buggers.
how do u "get" wave shapes?
