ViewsThis is sort of the last of an era before Tinyfolk turned into the bastard mutant it is today.
These are rainy-day pop songs and the production is all pretty rough and lo-fi (though nowhere near as lo-fi as my early early tape stuff).
There are some nice guest spots by Tony Presley of Real Live Tigers, Adam Coppess of Jenny is a Boy and Meghan Lamb of Iron Like Nylon, who was more or less a full-fledged member of Tinyfolk when this one came out.

i've been listening to this album a lot lately. i really really really like the songwriting on it. can't believe i haven't favoritized it until now! :D
one of my favoritest albums of all time!
so many fluttering-brain feelings from this record. Sometimes I can't listen to If I were an owl or desperation because it makes me to sentimental and sad. But that's a good thing. It's hard to be sweet and smart at the same time, and russ is a master at it.
Lovely, lovely, lovely! I absolutely ADORE every single song on this album!
When Russ and Tony played in Santa Barbara with Jon Crocker and I, this was the first Tinyfolk record I bought....and then my evil plans shifted into motion.
but seriously, "Desperation" is amazing, and "Things"!
"Desperation" is amazing as is most of this record.
