possEssed

The third in a series of basement 4-track cassette recordings, this one done between New Years and Spring Semester. It's pretty rough, but it has its moments, not to mention early versions of some of my favorite songs. There's a dark, political thing going on, at least half the songs are (and half of those are titled Political Song #___!). I wasn't going for subtlety; sometimes that gets in the way, you know?

The title was taken from a line in the song "muse pt. 1" on "Muses or Whims", and chosen in part because it looks about the same upside-down. Sort of a Dan Brown thing I guess.. ambigram, i think that's what that's called.

I drew the cover, sort of a sketch of an idea that became the real thing. I like how easy it is to photocopy!

- It's got twelve songs

- You certainly have not heard most or all of them before, depending on who you are

- The first, third, and eighth song titles begin with a 'p', and possibly one more

- There is a relatively high political song/non-political song ratio

- It was ripped from 4-track cassette by Audacity, hopefully resulting in a better/fuller sound than I've acheived with these things so far.

- I used (auxillary) percussion. It was exciting!

- I received said percussion for Xmas, and must thank my sister Sarah of Red Hot Tea Kettles fame!

- Something went wrong with my "nice" acoustic before recording began, so I used the other one (the one that has gone on numerous camping trips and spent a night in a puddle). I think it worked rather well.

- I used my electric for the first time in one of these cassette recordings

- One of the following instruments was not used: harmonica, pan pipes, electric organ

- The album is free, just ask and ye shall receive.

- This was easier to read in bulleted form than if I placed it in paragraph form, or maybe I'm just speaking for myself here
