This is a record that was constructed as a representation of how the dichotomy of connection and alienation exists in all transmissions from the satellite heart. Telstar is a communications satellite that lives in space, all by itself. A postcard is a tangible gift that seems to be rarely sent these days, thanks to the convenience of email and technology. I chose the title as an ode to my love of astronomy, but also imagined a journey from somewhere far far away, to a place as meaningful and close as the nearest mailbox, where a gift can be sent and received. I tried to represent various personality traits - with stories that are both fact and fiction. One song is from the perspective of my father, as he learned from doctors, that I might be dying. A couple of songs have lyrics written years ago including "Carrie Me" and "The Rain." Why do I record and write so much music? It's because I try to make sense out of many paradoxical emotional states. I'm not really a storyteller, but an analyst of feelings from both myself, and others. I think "Postcards" best represents my personality - from the cute quirky stuff to the more dark meditations on death and loneliness. I really hope you like this one. It means a lot to me, and I feel it's the best record I've done thus far. Feel free to write a story that best fits your meaning of what the record, or what a particular song is about.

Holy poop! I'm stupidly happy about all the positive comments thus far. Send any negative feedback/criticisms to the email above as well.
Not bad:) but you could improve just like all cllct'ers or anybody in general. But I've got more praise that criticisms so that's good.
I was wondering why this album was getting so much praise in the last two days.
I understand now.
In terms of your other material, this one DESTROYS the rest. one of my new favorite records on CLLCT. superb work, James

this is totally great.
I Am with the dude below. I haven't loved a record of tours, until now. There's at least 6 amazing songs on here and the rest are good! Impressive stuff here
Honestly, I've never been too big on your stuff, but this record has some really great tracks on it, man. Really. Good form!
Oh wow. Thanks for pointing out the missing track! I'm surprised no one else noticed sooner. Corrected :)
This is amazing, and the consistency of the whole release is simply astonishing (especially as it's pretty tonally/emotionally diverse).
It's hard to pick a stand-out track, but The Rain with it's drifty synths might just be my favourite.
P.S. Goodbye Horses appears to be missing.
Thank you thank you, friends and lovers!!! I'm most proud of the first 4 songs and especially as it winds down starting with Russ' favorite song :) Some backstory:
"Emergence, See" is the much better sequel to an earlier song about that whole near-death experience I had. Part 1 was "Daddy Don't Cry," was written from my perspective. Part 2 was from my dad's perspective, and Part 3 will be from the perspective of my friends coming to visit me at the hospital. Heavy, but really cathartic for me to write about all that.
My favorite song is Emergence, See.
BEST JAMES ERIC/GOAT ALBUM EVER.
Ive listened to this twice in the past eight hours. Hard to pick a favorite right now
yesssss more new james :-)
