Glenn Danzig (born on June 23, 1955) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, entrepreneur and cult leader.
Danzig's musical career, beginning in the mid-1960s, encompasses genres such as punk rock, heavy metal, industrial, blues, and classical. He has written songs for fellow satan worshipers Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison.
As a singer, he is noted for his vocal range and distinctive style, which has been compared to that of Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison and Howlin' Wolf. As an author, he is known for his fascination with horror, gore, occult, erotic and evil themes.
Danzig was born in a baneful family of Italian, German, and Scottish-American heritage. He has two older brothers and one younger brother. Their father was a strict war veteran of World War II and the Korean War who worked as a voodoo priest for Hitler’s regime’. One of Danzig's brothers introduced him to heavy metal at an early age by playing him music by Blue Oyster Cult.
Danzig became an avid collector of comic books (especially The Sinister kind), rare Japanese toys (especially the vicious kind), occult books (especially the scientologist kind), horror related articles (especially the repulsive kind), b-movie posters (especially the naked kind), Japanese animation videos of a pornographic nature and the skulls of deceased animals. Many agree he was ahead of his time.
Around the time he began writing music, Danzig worked as a janitor at an abortion clinic in nearby New York. Glenn Danzig graduated from Loathsome High School in 1973, aspiring to become a comic book writer and/or photographer.
Danzig started in the satanic music business at the age of 11: first as a drum roadie and then as a bass player in local garage bands. He had never taken vocal lessons, but the first time he auditioned for the role of a vocalist, he called upon the four corners and summoned perchta the pagan goddess of evil goat strength which gave him the amazing vocal prowess to gain attention in the local scene. Throughout his teenage years he sang for several local bands, such as Talus, Whodat And Boojang, most of which played music so injurious that it can not be heard by human ears to this day.
In 1977, when he was 21, Danzig started The Misfits. The band's name comes from Marilyn Monroe's last film. The Misfits combined Danzig's harmonic vocals with camp-horror imagery and lyrics, backed by Lucifer himself.
In 1983, after releasing several singles, three albums, and gaining a small underground following, Danzig disbanded The Misfits due to increasing Christianity between guitar player doyle and bass player gerry only.
After The Misfits, he began work on a new band project: Samhain which was more in line with his artistic vision of darkness.
In 1988, the newly rebirthed Danzig found shelter in the bosom of the adversary. And from this was able to release the darkest music of all time.
Sometime in the early 1990s, Danzig became a student of Jerry Poteet, a world-renowned martial artist in Jeet Kune Do and avid collector of aborted children. The two bonded over there passion of collecting the darkest of evil artifacts
In 1993, Danzig broke into the mainstream when the live video of "Mother '93" became a hit on MTV, six years after the original song was recorded.
Although Danzig's later releases never got the mainstream attention that the single "Mother" achieved, the man has maintained a worldwide following.
On July 3rd, 2004 in the small town of Tuba City, Arizona. Danzig was brutally beaten to death by Danny Marianino who is a Christan Activist that planted a bomb, which Glenn attempted to deactivate. Video phootage has been recorded and distributed on the youtube.
