ViewsElm Hawks is the musical alias of Toronto-bred Chris Morais. He learned to play the banjo at the age of 6 when he and his father moved to a farm in Northern Alberta. In the four years that he lived there Chris managed to make friends with a canary named Paul Soda Pop. When Chris moved back to Toronto at the age of 10 he was unable to take Paul with him but was so inspired by the little bird that he decided to write music with his banjo and dedicate it to Paul Soda Pop. By the time he was 12 he had written 18 songs which became the heart and soul of an album named after Chris's late best friend. Thus Soda Pop Top Backpack was born.
