Steel Magnolias
A series of songs I made shortly after finishing Sic Semper Equis that are going to eventually be put out as half of a split with Brother Bird.
Track 1 samples "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" by Chicago
Track 2 was written by Wckr Spgt and will be featured on the album "Smooth Sounds: Various artists cover the future hits of Wckr Spgt"
Track 3 was originally written for the compilation "There's Enough for Everybody" which is being organized by World History and will be out soon, so I hear.
Track 4 samples Robert Anton Wilson from his audio spoken-word box set "Robert Anton Wilson Explains Everything, or, Old Bob Shows His Ignorance"
Track 5 was inspired by Patrick Ripoll
Track 6 samples "Stalking" by Bruce McCullough as well as a few other tracks from his album "Shame-Based Man."
Track 6 was inspired by an episode of Video Girl Ai, for which the song is named.
Track 7 was inspired by Vince from The Mighty Boosh

I think for me this is a bigger leap than SSE in some ways, BUT I will listen to it more!
Jay-Eezy: I didn't even think about how many pop culture references I made in this EP. The ones you mentioned coupled with Video Girl Ai and Steel Magnolias. That's a lot for a little eight-song EP.
I'm actually a lot more happy with this EP than I am with Sic Semper Equis in a lot of ways. I love the feel of it, though there are more weak points, maybe.
The future is in owls was actually not a reference to Ionesco at all! In fact, I'd never heard of that one until after I wrote that song. Maybe it was subconscious.
Stee-Mo: Is it really that weird? Sometimes I know when I'm doing something that's probably going to be a big turn-off for most people (for example, my cover of 1999), but none of the songs on this one set off any flags. Except maybe General Semantics and Steel Magnolias. I guess eschewing lyrics in favor of samples is a bigger leap than I thought.
Magic horses!
This may even be too weird for me. I'll listen to em more. I do love "Is There Sex After Death?"
HOLY SHEET! Bruce McCullough, Robert Anton Wilson, The Mighty Boosh, Chicago... are all stapled to my brain and considered reasons why I am 'me'
Your barking up the right trees for me, lately, Russ. I'm consistently impressed by your ideas and inspiration. Still anticipating something inspired by Ionesco, but i'm assuming that "Future is in Owls" was a tip-of-the-hat to "Future is in Eggs?"
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..... ♥_♥
My favorite track is "On the Occasion of Our First Date and Wearing the Dress You Gave Me."
Magic horses!
