five songs recorded live in one go in a four-story stairwell (ie. all that reverb is natural) in the winters residence building at york university during february 2007 for a tour of the northeast (complete with many snowstorms) with a wonderful (check him out: www.myspace.com/awonderful); i sold them for a little while after, too, but i stopped once "mantra songs" was done.

you can hear people walking through the stairwell while i play to get from floor to floor. i was going to make the e.p. longer, but i was asked to stop playing by one of the boys on the top floor after five songs. the microphone it was recorded with isn't very good so the audio peaks sometimes.

although these recordings are unique, different recordings of three of the songs were later released on "mantra songs" and one was released on a compilation called "things our friends made" put out by we made these things (www.makethings.org). the fifth and final song is a cover of the magnetic fields song "take ecstasy with me" from their album "holiday."

the cd-r was wrapped in old books and construction paper and other things i found along the way while i toured (as per usual) as thus doesn't have one cover, so the cover posted here is a photograph of tim (a wonderful) and i standing on the frozen ocean at cape cod.
