You Have Me
Hi Everyone! This is my first album here at cllct and I'm really excited about it. This is a collection of recordings made in my college dorm here at San Francisco State University. The whole thing is only about 6 songs and ten minutes long, and is basically just me experimenting/getting to know recording and writing songs myself. If you give it a listen make sure to give me some feedback, as critical as you desire. The entirety of this (minus last track) was recorded on an internal mic on a dell inspiron 1720 laptop.
Songs:
You Have Me- The first song I ever wrote, for a girlfriend back in high school. Re-recorded in college with guitar, trombone, and singing.
Time to Pretend- Yes, it's an MGMT cover. But it's only one verse or so of the song. This was the first recording I made here and was basically a test. I think it turned out to be one of the best! Guitar, Cello (bowed and plucked as a bass), Trombone, Singing, and Drums.
Meeting a Girl- I finally put words to this guitar plucking thing I'd been working on for a while. About my inability to meet new people as anything more than a friend. Sigh. Guitar, Cello, Drums, and singing. Also has some cool effects placed on guitar during a "solo"!
Hymn of the Soviet Union- The National Anthem of the USSR re-worked in folk/twee style. Features prominent (but not always accurate) trombone, guitar, and singing.
I'm For You Too- A song created in a one night burst of creativity, written for someone special back home. Contains guitar, drums, trumpet, and singing.
You Have Me (Original)- Recorded at Alex P. of Your Yellow Dresses house forever ago. This was back when I barely knew how to play the guitar or trombone (I'm not much better now..) My first "solo" recording ever, it's too precious not to put up here. Turn your speakers up for this one.
Thank you very much to Alex P. for being a musical inspiration, as well as letting me play in his bands and showing me this wonderful community. Also thank you to Dylan C. my room-mate for letting me use his drums, and Lance Ohnmeiss, the leader of the Pep Band at SFSU for letting me use his trumpet. Since we're going there, thank you to Mission Viejo High School as well for letting me "borrow" their trombone.
