Your Yellow Dress Presents: The Haunted House EP by Alexp

This EP was a short answer to Russ's (Tinyfolk) challenge here: http://cllct.com/forum?c=showthread&ThreadID=289 and which I posted about here: http://cllct.com/forum?c=showthread&ThreadID=290

I started off with some random noise improvs and ended up centering around a ghosts and haunted house theme, with a small storyline following through the songs.
My challenge turned into making songs fast (in under an hour or so), making them short (the only long song is technically 2 songs I just can't properly split them..), and make them in somewhat different genres but have common sounds and feelings (accordions, bells, creepy noise etc..)

This is by no means representative of Your Yellow Dress as a project but rather showing what I (alex) can do with imposed restrictions and creepy creativity. Its a very interesting and eclectic mix of songs and I hope you enjoy all or parts of it to an extent. Some influences for this album include: jandek, metal, Dr. Steel, carnival and organ grinding music as well as my normal pop stuff.
This was completely recorded and mixed on my own. I guess it shows but its suppose to convey a different perspective than my normal songs.

Basically the storyline is: a ghost under my bed attracts me to a haunted house, upon entry and new world consumes me and death matters not. I die and come back to life, living contently and simply, and I find out the ghosts want me to step back and evalutate myself and my musical thoughts and sentiments.

yea its all lame high minded bullshit, but interesting.

Genres: 1: "outsider music", 2: hip hopish, 3:carnival music/organ grinding music, 4:drone-y noise, 5: noise randomshit, 6: some kind of light thoughtful rock with acoustic folk outro, 7:power rock
Challenges fulfilled: matt manns lyric usage, stevens cutesy (although there are no lyrics on the second part of "life" where i'm actually dead..), top grossing films (to an extent) instruments request. I'm writing a serious song with russ's suggestion but its going to be a real song for YYD.
