Covers of nineties hits.
What Is It?
We all (hopefully) remember the nineties; it's the age in which many of us grew up. It's also the age that directly influenced (most of) us, whether we wanted it to or not. If you wanna get all philosophical, the collective was created by the aesthetic of this era; due to the greed and the excess of the decade we've subconsciously rebelled and appropriated our hippie forefathers DIY attitude. So, why not make a compilation as a tribute to those lovely years that made us who we are today? We think it's a grand idea (and maybe an ironic one?).
So, as a fundraiser event, several collective artists have sent in songs;
their powers combined make a compilation of hits from the 90's! All profits will towards the new expensive dedicated server for CLLCT.

now that everyone has this, we should make a page for it to post it up for people to download for free, purhaps?

Sic Semper Equis.
I haven't even heard this and I'm pretty sure it's a contender for record of the year. I love everyone on it, even me! Great packaging. Hella xxxcited for this!
I want to be on a CLLCT.com compilation.
Since I was already a mod, do I get new powers? Or just the same ones?
Sic Semper Equis.
the artwork looks like something out of a shel silverstein book.
i really wanna hear the verve pipe cover.
I'm guessing it's too late to send a song?
Just pre ordered it.
I am way excited ;)
When's this getting mailed?
Sic Semper Equis.
Can't wait to hear the seal cover!
I had NO idea what that Del Amitri song was so I looked it up and HOLY SHIT, all these years, I thought that song was sung by Blues Traveler! Am I nuts?
I remember it being used in the movie trailer for the FLIPPER movie.

Holy moses, I'm disturbingly excited to hear a spice girls song - I love lo-fi stuff that's been recorded on broken, bizarre old equipment!
If anyone has any submissions, SEND THEM IN QUICK! I just ordered the arigato-paks, should be here in a few days. I'll send out a newsletter in a little while, but once I've started burning the CDs then you're out of luck.
ps. We're doing "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls.
So basically, we're sending one in this weekend but since we'll be recording off a broken tape recorder, we'll see how it ends up!
I'll get my cover in by Saturday, but it will most likely suck as much as the rest of my music.
I'm sending in one more either tonight or Saturday.
can we buy this bad boy now?
Just sent in my second cover. Losing my Religion by REM
awesome... I cannot wait to hear all the tracks!
Still agreed that we won't be using my cover of "The Freshmen," right? 'cause it sucks.
seriously, someone please do "the rockafeller skank" or "praise you."
You should send it to 001collective at gmail dot com if you're going to e-mail it to someone.
Sic Semper Equis.
I sent it to your email.

That Donna Lewis song is super good. Jordaan Mason said he's doing to do "Your Woman" by White Town. I have no idea how to submit these. There should be a place on the site where we can just upload them.
Sic Semper Equis.
I was talking to Bob from SFIAS about the 90's Cover and we came up with doing -Love You Always Forever- by Donna Lewis together.
How do I send it in?
-Jake
I sort of lost track of the 90's I was doing music in the cold west in the late 80's when Nirvana broke it sort of killed the alternative radio format. a lot of us thought that other grunge bands would brake as well. instead of Born Against we got metal bands with dropped "d" tunning I stopped listening to the radio. My housing situation was a bit uncertain too.
-Jake
Oh then I don't know
-Jake
I didn't see them until I was sixteen (2000ish), but I was pretty into them for a long time.

the first bands I got into were the beatles and they might be giants. I saw them when I was 5 at a free record store show and was completely confused that two people could be making all that noise...I never took into account the "might" I guess.
i do love they might be giants, however. they're my roots.
still do it for doin it's sake!
Also, dude, porches, I know you already did it, but "same in the end" is totally not a single. The idea was top 40 hits.
Sic Semper Equus.
I've got a match was on lincoln, which came out in 1988. Also, it was never a top 40 single.
Sic Semper Equus.
I would like to cover "I've Got a Match" -TMBG
-Jake
If anyone ever wondered whether Tinyfolk was a novelty act, you'll find out after hearing my cover.
I mean you'll find out that it is.

Sic Semper Equus.
if any one EVER questioned my sanity or motives, wait until you see my cover.
omg bittersweet symphony whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.
must have.
oh, I am SO excited to hear this, I know that's it's just going to blow my mind for sure :)
RUN AWAY TRAIN NEVER COMING BACK
hahaha. Ok. I'll do still the one.
stars and thunderclouds is doing Bittersweet Symphony, so I'm all set. Anything on top of that is just icing to the cake.
I want to do a song on this. I'd like to do Mr Jones or Round Here by Counting Crows.
