A Venom-Spider-Man comic book 1/1 sketch variant sold for $30,000 this week on eBay, marking the most expensive PSA-graded comic book sale to date — despite the company not officially offering the service to customers yet.

Following PSA’s July announcement that it would begin grading comic books in 2025, the company offered San Diego Comic-Con attendees a sneak peek through a Kith-Marvel collaboration that included prototype PSA-slabbed original comic books.

The comic is one of the variants accompanying the Kith-Marvel partnership which offered collectible ASICS sneakers styled after famed Marvel characters. Each purchase of a pair from the sneaker drop included a comic book.

Though no other 1/1 sketch variants have appeared in public sales records, eBay has seen a flurry of activity for the Comic-Con limited-edition collectibles, with gold variants — the next rarest after the 1/1 sketch — of the Venom comic selling for $6,799 and $3,000 in two different sales in December.

On Jan. 1, a Silver Surfer gold variant sold for $3,000 while a Magneto silver variant fetched $2,000.

PSA is expected to launch comic book and magazine grading in 2025, though the company has yet to announce an official start date.
