Top-ranked golfer Scottie Scheffler set the internet ablaze after reports of his arrest circulated the morning of the second round of the PGA Championship in May.
Just hours before his tee-time, Scheffler was handcuffed and sent to a Louisville jail, where he had his mug shot taken — an image that instantly went viral.
After his release from jail, Scheffler went on to complete his round at the Valhalla Golf Club. The hat he wore during that round, signed by Scheffler, sold at a charity auction benefiting the Kids Cancer Alliance Concert this week for $2,375.
Scheffler was initially charged with a felony for assaulting a police officer, along with three misdemeanors. The case has since been dismissed.
Det. Bryan Gillis, the arresting officer on the scene, said in a statement after the charges were dropped that his pants had been "damaged beyond repair," adding " I never would’ve guessed I’d have the most famous pair of pants in the country for a few weeks because of this."
