What happens if an item doesn't meet its reserve in an auction?

This weekend, at Goldin, seven high-profile items failed to meet their reserve.

Of these seven, four came from the personal collection of MLB legend Reggie Jackson, who was looking to sell gloves from Willie Mays and Sandy Koufax, as well as a bat from Jackie Robinson.
