San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is officially the cover athlete for EA Sports' “Madden NFL 25."
This marks the first time since 2014 a running back has graced the cover, since Barry Sanders and Adrian Peterson split duties for the “Madden 25” edition.
McCaffrey becomes the seventh running back in history to appear on the cover, joining the following:
- Eddie George: "Madden NFL 2001"
- Marshall Faulk: "Madden NFL 2003"
- Shaun Alexander: "Madden NFL 2007"
- Peyton Hillis: "Madden NFL 2012"
- Barry Sanders: "Madden 25"
- Adrian Peterson: "Madden 25"
It has been quite the week for McCaffrey, who just signed a two-year, $38 million extension with San Francisco after winning 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year and finishing as the league’s leading rusher.
McCaffrey also marks the first player in 49ers history to ever appear on the cover.
