The trend of retro-gaming nostalgia shows no signs of stopping after Sony’s announcement the company would be introducing a limited-edition PlayStation console in honor of its 30th anniversary.
Sony will offer 12,300 units of the PlayStation 5 Pro Console (30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle), an homage to the date of the first PlayStation launch on Dec. 3, 1994.
Each will feature the original PlayStation color design overlaid onto the latest PlayStation 5, accompanied by multiple original PlayStation-style controllers, accessories as well as a limited-edition poster, of which there will be 30 possible designs. The consoles will have the limited-edition numbers etched directly onto each unit.
Collectors and gamers will have their pick of the Pro Console, Digital Edition, as well as standalone products like a DualSense Wireless Controller. Pre-orders begin Sept. 26, with the official launch slated for Nov. 21.
In 2014, the company launched a 20th anniversary PlayStation 4 offered in similarly limited numbers (12,300).
Though the price has yet to be announced, the PlayStation 5 Pro was recently unveiled with a $699.99 price tag.
