A Bank of America card issued to O.J. Simpson sold for $10,675 at Goldin Auctions on Thursday night, the highest public sale of any Simpson collectible since his April 10 death.
The sale represents a record for any price paid for an unsigned celebrity credit card.
It’s the second most valuable celebrity credit card ever sold publicly, behind only a 1980 Prince-signed Master Charge ($16,500, November 2022).
The Simpson card, which lacked an authorized signature on the reverse, was likely one of the last credit cards owned by Simpson (expiration date: January 2023).
It was purchased by the consigner for under $100 in July 2023.
Simpson’s death has fueled a surge in collectible sales as well as a surge in prices. The previous high for any Simpson post-death collectible sale was the $5,104 paid at PWCC for a 1970 Super Glossy O.J. Simpson rookie card (PSA 10). The card fetched an extraordinary multiple over the prices paid for recent post-death sales of Simpson credit cards, including an unsigned Discover Card ($1,500) and a signed Sears Card ($1,000).
Even more astounding, this sale surpassed record prices paid for Joe DiMaggio-signed AT&T card ($1,281, March 2024), a John Lennon-signed credit card ($4,801.20, September 2023), a Mickey Mantle-signed credit card ($4,500, January 2023) and a Michael Jordan-signed credit card ($3,211, January 2021).
