Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin's home was broken into over the weekend, and his three Stanley Cup rings are missing.
As first reported by KDKA's Jennifer Borrasso, Malkin's house in Sewickley Heights, Pa., was burglarized during Pittsburgh's 4 p.m. ET home game Saturday against the Ottawa Senators. The Penguins also confirmed reports of the robbery, but declined to go into details.
"We are working closely with local authorities and team security," the team said in a statement. "Malkin has requested that his privacy be respected during this time, and we will have no further comment on the matter."
This incident is the latest in a string of burglaries targeting professional athletes in recent years.
Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin's home was broken into in late December, joining Mavericks guard Luka Doncic, whose home was also burglarized.
Earlier this fall, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow's home was burglarized during a Sunday game, as were the homes of Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce last season.
The FBI even issued a notice to professional sports leagues in early December with guides on how athletes can protect their homes from burglaries.
