Trading card grading giant PSA has temporarily paused submissions to its U.S.-based facilities from all international customers following a series of expanded tariffs announced Wednesday.
The expanded pause comes roughly a month after PSA announced a halt on direct submissions from customers in Canada, China, Hong Kong and Mexico following tariffs in March.
According to PSA, the pause is an attempt to avoid massive fees for international customers submitting directly to the United States.
“PSA is reluctantly taking these measures to protect our international customers from significant tariff expenses,” the company wrote in a post on its website late Wednesday. “The newly imposed tariffs are against the value of the items in the order rather than on the PSA service fee.”
Impacted customers should have received a notice of the pause via email.
Domestic customers can still submit cards for grading to PSA without issue, while customers in Japan can submit cards to a full-scale facility in Tokyo. Customers in Canada can still submit cards without issue to the company’s submission center in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
PSA says it is working on a solution for other international customers to continue submitting cards through PSA Authorized Dealers.
The pause for PSA submissions arrives after a series of sweeping tariffs from President Trump on Wednesday.
According to the Associated Press, the tariffs range from 10% to 49%, including a 34% levy on goods from China on top of a previous 20% tariff. President Trump also announced a 20% tariff on the European Union, 24% on Japan and 25% on South Korea.
The tariffs already have [impacted many of the biggest companies] in the apparel category, with Nike, adidas and Under Armour all heavily relying on manufacturing in Southeast Asia.
As of Thursday morning, Nike stock was down 13%, adidas stock was down nearly 9%, and Under Armour stock was down nearly 18%.
