Bidding is open for a famous piece of TV history.
Luther Brothers Auction Co. is selling Joey Potter’s house from the hit TV show “Dawson’s Creek”, which vaulted stars such as James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes and Michelle Williams to fame.
The auction for the Wilmington, N.C., home ends March 21, but the wildest detail about this auction is the land isn’t for sale.
The winning bidder will have to move the house and will be responsible for all costs involved with the relocation.
Nonetheless, it continues a string of pop-culture homes to hit the market recently.
Here are 10 notable TV/movie homes that have been sold or listed.
1. "The Godfather"
- Beverly Hills, Calif.
- $63.1 million
- Sold in September 2021
The Hearst Estate, featured in one of greatest movies in history, sold to billionaire Nicolas Berggruen at auction in September 2021.
The house, which was also used as a honeymoon getaway for John F. Kennedy and wife Jacqueline, was put up for auction after its previous owner, Leonard Ross, was forced to sell the house by a bankruptcy court. In the movie, the home was owned by movie producer Jack Woltz.
And Berggruen made an offer that they couldn’t refuse.
2. "Scarface"
- Montecito, Calif.
- Listed for $39.995 million
- Currently on the market
"SAY HELLO TO MY GIANT HOUSE THAT WILL NEVER SELL FOR THIS PRICE."
Ironically Tony Montoya’s iconic Miami estate isn’t in Miami, it’s in the Los Angeles area.
Even more ironic is the house was sold for $12.6 million in 2015, after initially being listed for $40 million, and then that same buyer listed it for $39.995 million in 2022.
3. "Full House"
- San Francisco
- Listed for $6.25 million
- Currently on the market
San Francisco has the highest median household price in the country, according to Kiplinger, at over $1.4 million.
So, an iconic television home in one of the city’s richest neighborhoods (Pacific Heights) once owned by the show’s creator, Jeff Franklin, being listed at more than $6 million makes sense.
Danny Tanner’s Victorian-style home remains on the market, as it has since June.

4. "Home Alone"
- Winnetka, Ill.
- $5.5 million
- Sold January 2025
This is probably the home that most expected to take the top spot, and if it weren’t for the astronomical prices of the California housing market, it likely would.
This mansion resting in the Chicago suburbs was sold for a whopping $5.5 million in January and features an indoor basketball court and movie theater ... on top of being the home of one of the most famous holiday movies in history.
5. "Breaking Bad"
- Albuquerque, N.M.
- Listed for $3.995 million
- Currently on the market
The price on this house might be shocking ... especially because Zillow lists the value at less than 10 percent of the $4 million asking price.
But Walter White’s ranch-style home has become a massive tourist attraction for the past decade, and “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan even had to tell people to stop throwing pizzas on the roof.
Ryan Johnston, who is handling the sale, called the house a “gold mine for an investor looking to have the best AirBNB in the world.”
6. "The Brady Bunch"
- Studio City, Calif.
- $3.2 million
- Sold September 2023
After being renovated by HGTV, the famous "Brady Bunch" house was listed for $5.5 million in May 2023 and ultimately sold for just $3.2 million four months later to Tina Trahan and Chris Albrecht, who told the “Wall Street Journal” they had no intention of ever living there and were just going to use the house for events.
Ironically, before HGTV sold the house, the network was actually in a bidding war with singer Lance Bass to buy the house. Looks like their heavy investment did not pay off.
7. "A Nightmare on Elm Street"
Los Angeles, CA $2.98 million Sold Jan. 2022
The famous slasher film home was actually owned by another film director and screenwriter, Lorene Scafaria, who wrote “Nick & Nora’s Infinite Playlist” and directed “Hustlers.”
She purchased the home in 2013 for $2.1 million, but didn’t quite reach her initial asking price of $3.25 million.
8. "The Fugitive"
- Chicago
- $2.93 million
- Sold December 2018
After seven years on the market, the Chicago home of Dr. Richard Kimble’s (played by Harrison Ford) sold for nearly $3 million.
Though it did come in $1 million less than the initial asking price of $3.95 million when it was first listed in 2011.
9. "The Goonies"
- Astoria, Ore.
- $1.65 million
- Sold January 2023
Sold to Behman Zakeri, an entrepreneur and superfan of the movie, this two-story home was only on the market for six days before Zakeri’s offer was accepted.
"My friendships from childhood have played a crucial role in shaping who I am and helping me achieve my goals," Zakeri told USA Today. "Purchasing this home is a testament to the power of friendship and the belief that our dreams can become a reality when you have a great support system by your side."
10. "Sixteen Candles"
- Evanston, Ill.
- $1.62 million
- Sold December 2022
The 5,000-square foot home of Sam Baker (played by Molly Ringwald) sold for $1.65 million in December 2022, just $25,000 below its asking price.
Suburban Chicago homes became popular for filming around this time, spearheaded by “Sixteen Candles”, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and “Home Alone.”
