Robert Edward Auctions, a New Jersey-based auction house predominantly known for selling vintage sports cards, announced a rebrand Monday that signals its shift into an expanded list of categories and plans for future growth.
Now rebranded to simply "REA," the company has grown from three auctions per year to 11 in the past four years, tripling its team and acquiring auction house Huggins & Scott.
“This is a very exciting time for REA as we take the next major step in our company’s history,” REA president Brian Dwyer said in a statement. “REA has built a sterling reputation through our record-setting results and the deep level of trust the hobby community has placed in us for more than three decades.”
The rebrand, which comes with a tagline “A Signature Approach to Collectibles,” comes with a new bidding platform and website, in addition to a fixed-price marketplace.
The auction house owns two of the top four card sales in history, with a $7.2 million sale of a 1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth rookie and a $6.6 million sale of a T206 Honus Wagner.
As for what collectors and bidders can expect from the company moving forward, REA confirmed to cllct the auction house will be offering more items in the game-used category, as well as vintage non-sports and memorabilia.
