Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers are again on top of the jersey sales leaderboard to start the 2025 regular season, according to data released by MLB on Monday.

As expected, Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts all land among the top-five in jersey sales following the franchise’s eighth World Series win in 2024.

The rankings are based on sales since the end of the 2024 World Series.

In total, Dodgers players make up four of the top 10 and six of the top 20 in sales. The New York Yankees, New York Mets and San Diego Padres tied for the second-most representatives among the top 20 with two each.

Ohtani retains the top spot to start 2025 after finishing as the top seller from 2024’s Opening Day through the World Series. Betts and Freeman also landed among last year’s top 10.

New Dodgers star pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto is currently ranked 10th to start 2025.

The extreme popularity for Dodgers gear closely follows the recent success for Fanatics during the Tokyo Series to open the regular season.

Fanatics announced it had sold $40 million in fan gear and trading cards for the series to set a company record for sales during a special event.

A major driver of that success was the release of a collaboration with famed Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. Best known for his contemporary artwork and the creation of the “superflat” postmodern art movement, Murakami created designs for an apparel line and two sets of limited-edition trading cards.

Ohtani’s place atop the ranking also arrives alongside a number of record-breaking collectibles sales throughout 2024 and early 2025.

A 2024 Topps Dynasty Black Logoman 1/1 card, which featured the MLB silhouette from the pants Ohtani wore when he hit the 50th home run of his historic 50-homer, 50-steal season, sold for a record $1.1 million in Goldin’s March Elite Auction.

That Logoman is the most expensive Ohtani card to sell to date and the second-most expensive baseball card created during the ultra-modern era, behind only the $1.11 million paid for the Paul Skenes Rookie Debut Patch Autograph.

Ohtani’s 50th home run ball, which was the subject of a legal battle, sold in October for $4.4 million to become the most expensive ball sold at public auction.

Ohtani’s 51st home run from his historic season later sold for $427k at Goldin in November, and his 54th home run ball fetched $158k just weeks later.

The jersey worn by Ohtani in his fourth game as a Dodger sold in February for $250k, the most ever paid for any Ohtani jersey at public auction.
