To say it has been an odd NFL season would be putting it mildly.
The NFC North was the best division in the history of the league, and the Lions earned the No. 1 seed for the first time in franchise history.
The defending NFC champion 49ers finished last in the NFC West.
The 15-2 Chiefs looked like the worst 15-win team in history ... and yet are favorites to win the AFC.
And Russ sort of, kind of, maybe cooked for a little while.
Regardless, the season featured many highs and lows, ebbs and flows and notable moments.
If these items were to surface, these would be cllct's top 10 pieces of memorabilia from the 2024 NFL regular season.
1. Jahmyr Gibbs' Week 18 jersey
The stakes of this game Sunday night were enormous. In fact, there have seldom ever been stakes as great as this game in league history.
The Lions and Vikings produced the first regular-season matchup ever between two 14-win teams. And the game just happened to decide the division and the No. 1 seed.
And in that game, Gibbs produced one of the best games of the entire season.
- 139 rushing yards
- Five catches for 31 receiving yards
- Four total touchdowns
The second-year running back led the Lions to what might be the most important win in franchise history. And he set Detroit's single-season record for touchdowns.
This jersey immediately is on the Mount Rushmore of Detroit Lions game-used memorabilia, likely alongside Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford.
2. Saquon Barkley's "reverse hurdle" jersey
It was the play of the year. Absolutely zero doubt. It’s the type of play that you watch again and again because it’s unfathomable to think a human being could accomplish it.
We’ve never seen anything like it. NFL players have never seen anything like it.
I don’t know that there’s anyone else in the NFL who could do it, let alone even attempt it.
3. Aaron Rodgers' 500th TD ball
It was a season from hell for the Jets, and Rodgers played a large part in that.
But throwing 500 TD passes is undeniable in its prestige in the league.
Rodgers joined Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning and Brett Favre as the only players to do that, so only five of those No. 500 balls exist. Elite, elite company.
If he and the Jets had a better season, this is easily No. 1 on the list, but it’s tarnished by an atrocious 2024 campaign.
4. Jayden Daniels' debut jersey
Yes, it was a loss, 37-20 vs the Buccaneers.
But it’s the first career game for the likely NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Washington’s next franchise QB — for an organization that has been deprived of one for so long.
Debuts are important, and this was the most important one this season.
5. Barkley's 2,000-yard jersey
So much of the discourse this season revolved around whether Barkley would break Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record.
He didn’t after sitting out Week 18.
But he still managed to become just the ninth running back to rush for 2,000 yards in a single season. And credit to him for doing it in 16 games.
The jersey for that Week 17 victory is certainly worth a pretty penny.
6. Derrick Henry's contract
This man is a machine.
He just turned 31 on Saturday, and that same day, he recorded 138 rushing yards and two TDs to finish the season with 1,921 rushing yards (second in NFL) and 16 rushing TDs (tied for first).
And in recent years, when so much has been discussed about whether or not to pay a running back, Henry continues to defy trends and even human nature.
The Ravens should frame his contract and put it in a team museum. But if it ever came to public auction, I’m sure a Baltimore fan would splurge for it.
7. Bo Nix's debut jersey
Similar to Daniels, Nix had a strong debut season and might have solved Denver's QB quandary.
Nix lost his first two games and was frankly awful in his first four.
But the rookie from Oregon really found his groove midway through the season and finished with more passing yards and TDs than Daniels.
8. Josh Allen's jersey from six-TD game
This would be higher, had it not come in the Bills' 44-42 loss to the Rams, though that should come as no fault to Allen.
He became the first player in NFL history to record three passing TDs and three rushing scores in a single game.
Any time you accomplish something that hasn’t been done before, that memorabilia will be valuable.
9. Mike Evans' 1,000-yard ball
Mike Evans has never led the league in receiving. In fact, he only has finished in the top five in receiving yards twice. But Sunday he did something only Jerry Rice has done: 11 straight seasons with 1,000 receiving yards, and he's the only one to do it the first 11 years of his career.
This was heavily in doubt this season, as Evans missed three games and came into Week 18 needing 85 yards to eclipse 1,000. And even more importantly, 1,000 yards would earn him $3 million in incentives from his Tampa Bay contract.
With the game in hand with less than a minute to go, all the Bucs had to do was kneel and run out the clock. Instead, Baker Mayfield found Evans for a nine-yard reception to topple 1,000 yards, tying Rice's record and earning Evans a big payday.
10. The first Guardian Cap ever worn in a regular-season game
Technically, Steelers guard James Daniels was the first player to ever wear the Guardian Cap in a game, but he did so in the preseason.
Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers, though, was the first player to wear one in a regular-season game.
The trend toward in an increase in player safety truly marks a historic moment.
