The Jayden Daniels Topps NOW Gold 1/1, featuring a “First card as a pro” autograph inscription, sold for $35,100 on eBay on Wednesday, a record for any Daniels card.

The Topps NOW card celebrates Daniels being selected No. 2 overall by the Washington Commanders in the 2024 NFL Draft. Available April 25-28, the card was included in a drop of 388 total cards, all numbered to 199 or less, for $349.99 each.

The sale was confirmed by eBay product research tool Terapeak.

Alongside parallels such as Black /99, Blue /49 and Purple /25, the Red /10 parallel featured a “Go Washington!” inscription while the Orange /5 featured “#2 Pick.”

Prior to the Gold 1/1, the highest price paid for a Daniels card was $7,900 in September for one of the Red /10 parallels with an inscription. According to data tool Card Ladder, cards from that Topps NOW release have accounted for nearly all of Daniels’ top sales, along with a number of redemptions for an XRC Tie-Dye /25 Prizm from 2023 Panini Select Football.

The sale for Daniels arrives amid a massive surge in interest for Topps NOW cards that has seen a number chases for 1/1s as well as records for secondary-market sales and print runs.

Among the most important cards created in 2024, the chase for a Topps NOW Olympic card featuring a triple autograph of LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant has captivated hobbyists. That card set a then-record for a Topps NOW print run with 588,035 copies of the base card ordered by collectors and has yet to surface.

Pulled by a father and his 8-year-old son, the base Gold 1/1 variation of that James, Curry, Durant card, which doesn’t feature an autograph, recently sold for $53,680 at Goldin, setting a record for any Topps NOW card.

That record print run, which was set in August, was topped in September by the Topps NOW card celebrating Shohei Ohtani’s historic 50-50 season with 653,737 orders.

According to Card Ladder, the Daniels sale is the fourth-highest for any Topps NOW card, behind only the Olympic Gold 1/1, a 2017 Topps NOW Aaron Judge BGS 10 Black Label rookie card, which sold for $39,050 on eBay in 2023, and a 2021 Topps NOW Formula 1 Lewis Hamilton/Max Verstappen Gold 1/1 PSA 9, which fetched $36,900 at Goldin in 2022.
