Any piece of history from Shohei Ohtani's milestone 2024 season has been pure gold.

Ohtani's 50th home run ball, which made him the first major-leaguer with 50 homers and 50 stolen bases in a single season, currently features a high bid of $1,464,000 at Goldin Auctions.

The card market for the Dodgers superstar is also booming, highlighted by a record $336,000 sale for his 2018 Topps Chrome Sapphire Rookie Autograph Superfractor 1/1 BGS 9.5/10 on Tuesday night at the Holy Grails Auction.

Now, Topps will be capitalizing on a piece of game-worn memorabilia from Ohtani's incredible 50-50 game.

The card company announced Saturday it had acquired the pants Ohtani wore when he founded the 50-50 Club in the Dodgers' 20-4 victory at Miami last week. Relics of the pants will be included in trading cards, including a 1/1 Logoman from the MLB logo on the back of pants, in the new Topps Dynasty Black set, which Topps also announced Saturday.

Ohtani wore the pants in arguably the most impressive individual hitting performance in Major League Baseball history, going 6-for-6 with three homers, two steals and 10 RBI.

With two games remaining in the season, Ohtani has 54 homers and 57 steals.

Dynasty Black is a spinoff of the flagship Dynasty set, which is best known for on-card autographs and game-used memorabilia. Utilized across baseball, soccer and Formula 1, hobby boxes of Dynasty have traditionally included just a single card, often numbered to just 10 or less.

According to Topps, Dynasty Black will include game-used memorabilia from specific moments, not just specific games — something collectors have longed for, especially during the ultra-modern era.

Cards featuring game-used memorabilia have become less common in recent years, with many now featuring “player-worn” memorabilia or even relics not associated with any specific player, team or event.

It’s currently unclear how much Dynasty Black will cost at launch, though secondary-market prices for 2023 Dynasty Baseball have recently trended around $1,750 per box.

Dynasty Black is the latest ultra high-end set announced by Topps, with Topps Mercury: Victor Wembanyama debuting earlier this month.

Retailing for $8,000 per hobby box with just eight cards, Mercury is among the most expensive sets in the trading card hobby.
