Hello, friends.
Jim Nantz was the winning bidder of Scottie Scheffler’s first car, which sold at Heritage in December, according to Golf Monthly.
“I figure just driving this SUV to the golf course should lower my handicap by at least five shots,” Nantz wrote in a text to Golfweek.
Nantz, who has anchored CBS’ coverage of the Masters Tournament since 1989, bid $50,000 for Scheffler’s 2012 GMC Yukon XL, which has nearly 200,000 miles on it.
The auction house will donate all commissions for the sale to Triumph Over Kid Cancer, a non-profit co-founded by a childhood friend of Scheffler.
The car is signed twice by the world No. 1 golfer and is inscribed "First Owned Vehicle.” The car, sans Scheffler provenance, has a resale value of $8,167, according to Kelley Blue Book.
