A hoodie worn by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in 2010, the same year “The Social Network” was released and he was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year, is up for auction at Julien’s.

The hoodie has already more than doubled its high estimate with bidding at $4,500 and more than three weeks remaining.

Zuckerberg gave away the custom-made hoodie, which features Facebook’s mission statement (“Making the world open and connected”) on the interior, to a fan via Facebook Marketplace to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary.

The recipient posted about it on Threads, saying Zuckerberg had listed it as a free item on Facebook Marketplace last year, according to Business Insider.

A note accompanying the hoodie reads: "One of my favorite old-school Facebook hoodies. I wore this all the time in the early days. It even has our original mission statement on the inside lining. Enjoy!"

The hoodie also matches the style of one he wore that year during a now-famous interview with tech journalist Kara Swisher, in which Zuckerberg was pressed on privacy concerns and appeared flustered. Swisher asked if Zuckerberg wanted to take off the hoodie, which he did, and she commented on the “weird symbol” on the interior lining.

“What are you in, some kind of cult?” she asked.

Zuckerberg took to wearing plain hoodies in the early days of Facebook’s rise, only recently undergoing a transformation which has seen him in gold chains and expensive designer shirts.

Unlike Steve Jobs apparel, which is a hot commodity — his iconic turtlenecks have sold for thousands of dollars at auction — there is not a rich history of Zuckerberg collectors.

One notable exception, however, came in 2022, when his Little League card sold for more than $100,000.
