When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die — or in this case, buy part of the epic show's history.

More than 2,000 items from the eight-season "Game of Thrones" saga are coming to Heritage Auctions in October.

Spread across 900 lots, fans can bid on items such as Jamie Lannister's armor, Jon Snow's sword "Longclaw," or Tyrian Lannister's Hand of the Queen pin.

Jay Roewe, HBO’s senior vice president of global incentives and production planning, told the Associated Press these items have been carefully preserved because HBO wasn't sure what exactly they were going to need for spinoffs, such as "House of the Dragon,” which just finished its second season, or the upcoming "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”

Now, the network has decided which items need to stay, and which can be sold.

“These items have been curated and taken care of since we finished filming," Roewe told the AP. "They are the quality that they were when we finished filming, and we’ve had people working on them for years to keep them in shape. We don’t need them anymore. It’s time to finally open it up to the world.”

The auction features a 750-page catalog with details as well as commentary on the items from the cast and crew.

“You don’t usually get studio-sanctioned auctions like this,” Heritage executive vice president Joe Maddalena said. “Everything comes from the archive. Everything was handpicked, scene specific. You know where your piece was used. You know it was actually used on screen.”

The auction will take place from Oct. 10 to 12, but the collection can be previewed at Heritage's New York and London locations from Sept. 17 to Oct. 4.
