Start spreadin' the news!
The next cllct auction on eBay Live will feature some amazin' New York sports items.
Alex Giaimo of MLB Network and Netflix's "King of Collectibles" will join me for our next show Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET. We will be broadcasting live from Citi Field and offering memorabilia from the Mets, Yankees, Giants, Jets, Knicks and more.
We have curated a collection of awesome New York items that you'll definitely want to bid on.
Here are some of the items that we'll be auctioning:
1. Deion Sanders' 1990 New York Yankees paycheck
Yes, in case you didn't know, "Prime Time" was a Yankee, picked in the 30th round of the 1988 MLB Draft. He received this payroll check 22 days into his pro baseball career (July 15, 1988) while playing rookie ball in Sarasota, Florida, and making $323.71 a week.
The two-sport star made his major-league debut May 31, 1989, while still negotiating with the Atlanta Falcons, who drafted him fifth overall. Sanders played nine seasons in MLB and 14 in the NFL.
2. Bill Buckner, Mookie Wilson, Ray Knight autographed 1986 World Series baseball
Bill Buckner, after his error in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series, made a living signing balls and photos with Mookie Wilson, and good for him. The best item is a 1986 World Series ball with signatures from the two main characters in one of the most famous plays in baseball history.
Well, we've got one in our eBay Live that tops it. It's a 1986 World Series ball that recounts the whole play. Wilson signed it and wrote "Hit it." Bill Buckner signed it with the inscription "Missed it." Ray Knight signed it and wrote "Scored it." The Mets won Game 6 and went on to win the title.
3. More debut tickets
Our auction is packed with firsts.
We are selling tickets to Ron Darling's MLB debut (signed by Darling), the first game at Shea Stadium, Reggie Jackson's first game at Yankee Stadium, Baba Booey's awful first pitch and the ticket to the New Jersey Devils first ever win — which happened to come against the New York Rangers in 1982.
4. Real retro jerseys
We're not auctioning off Mitchell & Ness jerseys here. We are selling New York Giants jerseys from 1987, fresh off their first Super Bowl title.
We have a Phil Simms jersey with a Super Bowl XXV patch on it and two clean, original jerseys from Lawrence Taylor and Mark Bavaro.
5. Great conversation pieces
We aren't just selling items on eBay Live, we are selling stories too!
In this auction, you will have a chance to win a custom Sidd Finch card signed by the man who faked like he was the Mets phenom nearly 40 years ago.
We have the New York Times newspaper from the day after the New York Rangers effectively stopped the 1940 chant by winning their first Stanley Cup in 54 years.
It's not New York sports — but it's fun as anything out there. We have an authentic 1989 Las Vegas Stars set up for sale. Why would you want that? Because it has the Keith Comstock card in it. What is the Keith Comstock card? Check out Ben Burrow's list of the Top 10 weirdest baseball cards ever, and you'll get the idea.
