On the heels of Alexander Ovechkin overtaking Wayne Gretzky as the NHL’s all-time leading goal-scorer, a memento from when Gretzky took the record from Gordie Howe in 1994 has hit the auction block.

After “The Great One” scored goal No. 802, placing him atop the all-time leaderboard, the Los Angeles Kings presented him with a 1994 Rolls-Royce Corniche IV in honor of his achievement.

“I really do feel a little embarrassed standing here getting this car this evening. It's overwhelming, but I’ll take it,” Gretzky said at the time.

The car, which is one of 219 Corniche IVs built, holds a pre-sale estimate of $894,899.

It is unclear how long Gretzky held onto the car.

Gretzky is not the consignor, as the auction house says it has changed hands multiple times over the years, recently being serviced by its original dealer.

The car is finished in the Kings’ black and silver colors and has less than 10,000 miles on it.
