A bow tie worn by Steve Jobs during promotional photoshoots for the release of the Apple Macintosh computer in 1984 sold for $35,750 on Thursday at Julien’s.

Jobs also wore the bow tie during a speech at the International Design Conference in 1983, which he began by saying, “They paid me sixty dollars, so I wore a tie.”

Though there might be sticker shock at the hammer price of the bow tie, it is no surprise to those familiar with the market for Jobs and Apple memorabilia.

Another piece of Jobs apparel, a pair of his Birkenstocks, sold for nearly $220,000 in 2022.

Julien’s previously sold a leather jacket worn by Jobs for more than $22,000, as well as another bow tie for a little more than $4,000.

RR Auctions has sold various items relating to the Macintosh over the years for tens of thousands of dollars, including a Motherboard Display signed by Jobs and Jef Raskin (leader of the Macintosh project at Apple) for more than $132,000 and a Jobs-signed Macintosh Floppy Disk for nearly $85,000.
