LeBron James' game-worn jersey from Game 2 of the 2013 NBA Finals has hit the auction block at Sotheby’s with a pre-sale estimate of $1 million.
James' Miami Heat won the game against the Spurs 103-84, with James’ highlight-reel block on Tiago Splitter coming as the most memorable play of the game. James finished with just 17 points on 7-for-17 shooting, though he notched eight rebounds and seven assists.
In the first few hours of the auction Friday morning, the jersey received three bids up to $750,000. The lot has an irrevocable bid, meaning a third-party has placed a bid of an unknown amount on the jersey, guaranteeing it will sell, and in return receiving a cut of the upside if bidding exceeds that price.
The Heat would go on to win the series in seven games, earning James the second title of his career.
The jersey he wore during Game 7 sold for $3.68 million in 2023 at Sotheby’s, setting a record for any James jersey at public auction.
Goldin sold a James jersey worn in Game 4 of the NBA Finals in 2014 for $192,000 in 2023, as well as his 2011 NBA Finals Game 4 jersey for nearly $185,000 earlier this year.
