Michael Jordan's game-used jersey from Games 3 and 4 of the 1998 Eastern Conference Finals sold for $1,049,200 at Goldin Auctions on Saturday night, a new public record for this jersey.
The jersey was photo-matched by both MeiGray and Sports Investors Authentication, and had a letter of authenticity from the Chicago Bulls, as it was originally sold by the team in a charity auction.
Famously, the Bulls' 1997-98 season was "The Last Dance," and it also marked the last time Chicago won the NBA championship. It ended up being Jordan's final season with the Bulls.
Jordan and the Bulls defeated the Pacers in seven games in the Eastern Conference finals. Ironically, this jersey was worn in two losses, both two-point losses in Indiana, despite Jordan leading both games in scoring.
"MJ is still the king of basketball memorabilia and game-used," Goldin Auctions CEO Ken Goldin told cllct. "This jersey represents a significant moment and perhaps the toughest playoff series that Jordan ever played in."
Jordan and the Bulls held off the Pacers in seven games to reach their sixth NBA Finals.
Jordan's Game 1 jersey from the 1998 NBA Finals is the highest-selling basketball jersey of all time, earning a whopping $10.1 million when it sold at Sotheby's in 2022.
