Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and The Joker are all coming to Upper Deck.
UD announced a collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products to produce trading cards, memorabilia and tabletop games Thursday.
The addition of Warner Bros.’ DC Super Heroes and Villains to Upper Deck’s stable of entertainment partnerships comes after years of sustained success of its various Marvel card releases, including Fleer Retro, Fleer Ultra and Masterpieces.
Upper Deck plans to include DC characters in an array of upcoming collectibles.
“DC's fandom and history run deep, and we’re excited to expand those storylines and immortalize those life-changing moments of the great super heroes we all grew up admiring,” Upper Deck president Jason Masherah said. “Here at Upper Deck, we only create the best collectibles and games for fans across the globe, and we look forward to working with the Warner Bros. Discovery team to extend their vision to our products.”
Beginning this winter, Upper Deck will launch its DC-focused sets with DC Annual, Skybox Metal Universe Batman, Fleer Ultra Superman, DC Unbound, and DC Masterpieces.
The company confirmed to cllct that it plans to include Precious Metal Gems cards in the upcoming SkyBox Metal Universe Batman release.
This appears to mirror the format used by Upper Deck in its Marvel cards, which have utilized the same brand names in the past.
"We’re very proud to have grown the Marvel trading card business from a few products per year to the vibrant, active collecting experience it is today," Travis Rhea, UD's director of entertainment brands, said.
Rhea added the company has "set the stage" for "a whole new exciting chapter of entertainment trading cards."
Upper Deck will be releasing an e-Pack® exclusive card featuring Superman, available to collectors for one week at $3.99.
