The LEGO Group has announced a multi-year partnership with The Pokémon Company to release LEGO Pokémon sets beginning in 2026.

No additional details, including potential sets or pricing, were immediately available.

The deal with LEGO will seemingly end a long-term relationship between Pokémon and Mega, a subsidiary of Mattel. Mega has held the exclusive rights to produce Pokémon sets since 2017.

Pokémon-themed sets will join a robust offering from LEGO that currently covers dozens of famous franchises, including Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, Lord of the Rings and Super Mario.

Though LEGO is highly popular for its playability, the brand has become increasingly collectible in recent years due to its price appreciation on the secondary market, especially for popular movie and television franchises.

According to BrickEconomy, a third-party website that covers LEGO’s secondary market, franchises including Stranger Things, Fortnite, Scooby Doo and The Lord of the Rings have all all experienced double-digit annual growth since release.

The partnership is expected to be exceptionally popular among collectors, with Pokémon currently experiencing extreme popularity in the trading card market.

According to third-party grading tracker GemRate, the TCG category, which is largely made up of Pokémon cards, was the single-most submitted category to the four major grading companies in 2024.

GemRate tracked more than 8 million TCG submissions to PSA, BGS, CGC and SGC in 2024, which easily outpaced the 4.2 million baseball submissions, 2.8 basketball submissions and 2.7 football submissions.

Pokémon cards have also performed extremely well on the secondary market, with sealed product often easily eclipsing retail prices.

According to Market Movers, 2025 Scarlet & Violet: Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Boxes have increased in value roughly 32% over the last year across more than 7,000 sales on the secondary market. Those boxes have averaged more than $100 each across that period.

Market Movers has also tracked more than 2,700 sales of 2024 Scarlet & Violet: Surging Sparks Booster Boxes, which have increased in value about 68% over the last year. Those Booster Boxes are currently averaging around $250.
