A Peyton Manning rookie card sold for $100,000 on Sunday via “best offer” at Fanatics Collect, the highest price paid for a Manning card in any public sale.

The card, a 1998 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems /50 PSA 10, is one of just two at the grade. Only a private sale of a 1998 Skybox E-X2001 card /7, which is listed by Card Ladder at $125,000, has gone for more.

Prior to this, the last comparable sale of a top Manning rookie in public auction records was in June 2023, when the sole other PSA 10 example fetched $42,000.

Over the past two years, Manning’s Card Ladder Index, composed of 212 total cards, declined by more than 25%, though it has remained close to flat in the past year.

Precious Metal Gems are arguably the most beloved insert of the 1990’s, first launching in 1997-98 Metal Universe Basketball while including some of the most valuable Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant cards ever produced.

The inserts are known for being extremely condition sensitive, leading to an extremely scarce number of surviving high-grade copies today.
