On New Year’s Eve, as the calendar flipped from 2023 to 2024, Goldin Auctions sold a PSA 7 example of the 1984 Michael Jordan No. 101 Star card for $24,400.

At the time, PSA had graded 241 examples of the card total after only resuming grading cards from the set in 2022.

Today, PSA has graded 360 examples of the card, including more than 100 in PSA 7 condition.

This weekend, Goldin sold a PSA 7 copy for $68,320, a record for the card in that grade. It marks the 18th sale of a PSA 7 in 2024 and the fourth record since August.

Goldin had multiple other Star cards sell over the weekend, including a BGS 8.5, which sold for $79,300 — the highest price for that grade in 2024, and the fourth-highest price paid in history, lagging behind three sales in 2022, the highest of which fetched $132,000.

Another record sale included a signed Star Jordan graded PSA 7/Auto 9, which sold for $195,200, surpassing the previous record set for a signed Jordan Star card earlier in the month for $183,610. The same card was likely the same card which previously appeared in a BGS 8/Auto 9 slab before being graded by PSA recently.

The auction also saw $54,900 paid for a sealed 1984 Star Basketball Chicago Bulls Team Set, including the Jordan card on top.
