Online marketplace eBay is adding a new feature that will allow customers to send eligible raw card purchases directly to PSA for grading.
The program will begin rolling out Monday, with buyers seeing the new option in the coming weeks for individual raw, non-autograph cards priced above $250 with more than two images in the listing.
Eligible cards are included in eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee service, which requires sellers to submit cards for inspection by PSA before they are shipped to the buyer.
The new feature will offer the option at checkout to have PSA grade the card immediately after it passes inspection before shipping to the buyer.
Collectors won't need to register for a PSA account to request grading.
“Over the past few years, we’ve continued to evolve our products and offerings to make access to our authentication and grading services as easy and seamless as possible," PSA president Ryan Hoge told cllct. "Adding this feature as the latest collaboration in our partnership with eBay is a logical next step. Combining the grading add-on with the Authenticity Guarantee program’s product flow makes building a collection easier and safer for everyone.”
This program will cut out parts of the shipping process for some collectors who have previously received cards from PSA as part of the Authenticity Guarantee service and were required to then ship them back for grading.
Cards that don’t pass the Authenticity Guarantee will be returned to the seller, and the buyer’s purchase will be refunded. Any card that passes PSA grading will be considered a final sale and not eligible for return.
The service is currently available to buyers in the United States.
Additional details on pricing and grading service tiers is expected this week.
The companies also announced a free shipping promotion for graded cards from PSA to buyers until June 30.
“Grading is a core part of the trading card hobby, and now the process to get from raw card to authenticated and graded is seamless when you build your collection with eBay,” eBay’s U.S. Collectibles general manager Ron Jaiven said in a statement. “We’re raising the bar and setting new standards for trust, innovation and speed, in service of the collecting community.”
Select trading cards were added to eBay’s Authenticity Guarantee program, which also includes sneakers, watches and handbags, in 2022 for purchases in the United States. The program was eventually expanded to lower the price threshold to $250 or more and include more types of cards.
Previously in collaboration with PSA for graded cards and CGC for raw cards, the Authenticity Guarantee program made PSA the lone authenticator for both in 2024, expanding a deep relationship between the two companies.
In January, eBay rolled out another integration with PSA to show card population data directly within card listings.
In April 2024, eBay acquired Goldin Auctions from PSA-parent company Collectors. Collectors acquired eBay’s trading card vaulting service as part of the deal.
PSA continued its industry dominance in 2024 while finishing with more than 15 million graded cards, according to GemRate. CGC Cards finished 2024 in second place with more than 2.3 million.
