The 1924 Paris Olympics medals were the first to display the Olympic rings.

A gold medal from the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris will be displayed at Fanatics Fest this weekend in New York, NGC announced Monday.

The medal, which has been certified and encapsulated by NGC, was purchased for $46,279 in January 2024 at RR Auctions by the current owner, who submitted it to NGC during this year’s Olympics. It was given a grade of NGC MS 65.

During Fanatics Fest this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the medal will be on display at a booth operated by CGC, another company under the CCG umbrella which specializes in grading trading cards and other collectibles.

Winner’s medals from the 1924 Paris Olympics are extremely rare, with only a handful appearing at auction in recent years. Medals from the 1924 Games are especially notable as they were the first to include the Olympic rings in the design.

NGC has graded other Olympic medals in the past, including one from the 1870 "Zappas Olympics,” which sold for $150,000 at in May 2022, as well as non-Olympic medals like one carried to the moon by Neil Armstrong, which sold for more than $2 million at Heritage in July 2019.
