One of the biggest brands in trading cards is getting a new mobile app experience for collectors later this fall.

Announced during Sunday’s closing ceremonies of the Pokémon World Championships, the card collecting app Pokémon TCG Pocket will officially launch Oct. 30.

Pokémon TCG Pocket will be available for both Android and iOS devices and will allow fans of the franchise to collect digital cards from the series. Featured cards will include previously released designs, as well as all-new cards exclusive to the app.

Pricing for any in-app purchases wasn’t immediately announced, though two booster packs will be available each day at no cost.

The video released alongside the announcement shows off a number of features, including opening packs by swiping a finger to rip open the top, as well as trading and battling.

A number of “immersive cards” will also allow collectors to dive into the illustration and explore the areas beyond what is pictured on the front of the card.

First announced in February, Pokémon TCG Pocket is the latest addition to the Pokémon trading card game, which first launched in 1996. Since its debut, Pokémon has been one of the most popular brands in trading card history.

According to third-party grading tracker GemRate, PSA graded more than 411,000 TCG-related cards in July, with the overwhelming majority of that number under Pokémon.

The rising popularity of the Pokémon category also has resulted in a number of high-value sales on the secondary market. According to data tool Card Ladder, there have been two private sales of Pokémon cards for more than $1 million, including the 1998 Japanese Promo Pikachu Holo Illustrator PSA 10, which sold to YouTube star Logan Paul for $5,275,000 in 2021.
